Camilla säger: How many birth do you assist every year?
Elisabeth Ding säger: Actually, we don't help with the maternity ward now, that's another organization. We help before the birth with information, when the women goes in to labor, we send them to maternity.
stan säger: Do you have any doctors?
Elisabeth Ding säger: No, we don't have one at moment for the Red cross, but there are doctors working in hospitals, with other organizations.
Camilla säger: What is the main reason that so many women die when they give birth?
Elisabeth Ding säger: There is no to few people that's have been trained. Before, we had no facilities and supplys. Now, there's more information. Still, if the delivery is long and has been taken to the facility to late, a lot of women dies. We also have problems with aenimia, the mothers are not in good condition.
frida säger: Elisabeth, what is the biggest problem for you in your work, and for pregnant women in Sudan?
Elisabeth Ding säger: The biggest problem is that we don't have more ambulances, to pick up the mothers in time. The biggest problem for the mothers is aenimia and malaria, and malfuncitioning liver.
Anonym säger: Maria asks: Is it true that there is no birth control in Sudan? If so, why are no measures taken to avoid undesired pregnancies?
Elisabeth Ding säger: Yes, we do have birth control in Sudan - but people are not so well educated, and don't know the importance of birth control.
Hanna säger: Is there anything we can do in Sweden to help you?
Elisabeth Ding säger: We have people from Sweden on the ground here, who helps with education.
Nina säger: Hello! How many children does a woman in Sudan have, in average?
Elisabeth Ding säger: It's very diffrent but the average is seven children.
Louise säger: Hi. I have a work in my school about poverty in the world. I wonder how the medical service are in Sudan?
Elisabeth Ding säger: It's really very important, but we are lacking in skilled people, we have educated a lot more people. We also have shortage in drugs, we have problems with the distrubution to different facilities.
Anonym säger: How many of the mothers is below 18?
Elisabeth Ding säger: We have a lot of young mothers here, and have special units working with mothers below 15.
Camilla säger: How big is the different in survival between hospital birth, assistant birth an unassistant?
Elisabeth Ding säger: The difference is when there is complication during the birth. If there's is no doctor and no traditional assistance, there is a non-tradiotional – but if there is a complication, the risk to die is much, much higher.
